Carl “C.J.” Clay West Jr.

Carl “C.J.” Clay West Jr. was born April 16, 1977, to Carl abdBarbara (Taryole) west in Tahlequah, and left this life on May 22, 2022 in Tulsa.

Preceding him in death are his paternal grandparents, Calvin and Agnes West; Paternal aunts, Wanda West and Kathleen West; paternal uncle, David West; maternal aunt, Norma “Shorty” Taryole.

Those left to cherish the memories of C.J. are his parents, Carl & Barbara West; son, Mason Jai West; two brothers, Brandon and Michael West; niece, Peyton Elise; nephew, Colby Coolidge as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

C.J. graduated from Weleetka High School in 1995 where he lifted weights and played football and was known as “Cheetah”. He loved to cook, especially for his nephew Colby. He liked doing crossword puzzles and play casino games on his cellphone while listening to music. He also liked to fish and play softball and basketball. He worked for Sherwood Construction for eight years.

Wake services were held May 26, Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Buckeye Creek Baptist Church. Funeral were held May 27, Friday at 2 p.m. also at the Buckeye Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed at the West Family Cemetery. Pallbearers wereeryant Beaver, Adam West, Chris West, David “Joe” West Jr., Tyrone Barnett, Matt West, Kenric West and Dominique West; Honorary Pallbearers are Norman Taryole, Newman Taryole Jr., Ryan Taryole, Trevor Taryole, Dedrick West, Tra West, Jordan West, Devlin West, Joe Hogner, Dereck West and Thomas Barnett.

Services were under the direction of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
