Funeral services for Bristow resident Leon Reed were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, in the Memorial Chapel of Michael’s Funeral Home, of Bristow. Rev. Wayne Gimmel, of the Bristow Christian Center, officiated. Interment followed in Magnolia Memorial Gardens at Bristow. Funeral arrangementswere entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Bristow.
Leon Reed, known to some as Snookie, was born in Bristow, on March 19, 1936, to the lateVirgil Leon Reed and Mary Plyine (Blackwell) Reed.
He passed from this life in Okemah on Feb. 9, 2022 at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 21 days.
Leon was raised and educated in Bristow. He married Patsy-Marie Ashcraft on Jan. 6, 1967 and they made their home in Bristow. They remained together until her death in 1998. Leon had worked in the maintenance department for Tulsa Osteopathic Hospital for many years, then at the Okemah Hospital until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and workingon vehicles.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Joann Reed; a granddaughter: Cindy Long; a stepdaughter: Jessica Higgs; and a stepson: David Hamilton.
His remaining family includes a son: Jerry Reed and his girlfriend Nora Redcherry, of Bristow; two daughters: Sue Bennett and husband Tim, of Depew; Clydell Hill and husband Randy, of Bristow; stepson: Mike Higgs, of Depew; grandchildren Tiffany and husband Patrick; Rebecca and husband Jared; Mya and husband Kyle; Sharodha and husband Shawn; Timothy and wife Shalese; Audrie. Nathan, Christopher and wife Megan, Bubba Higgs and Tamarra and husband Shawn; plus numerous great grandchildren,other relatives and friends.
