BPD achieves State verification, advancing toward full accreditation

The City of Bristow is proud to announce that the Bristow Police Department has achieved official verification through the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police - a significant milestone that reflects the department ’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and best practices in modern policing.

Verification is a formal recognition that a law enforcement agency has implemented policies and procedures that meet established state standards. This includes critical areas such as officer training, use of force, evidence handling, and operational consistency. It signals that the department has the structure and systems in place to operate at a high level of performance and transparency.

“This is a meaningful achievement for our community,” said Mayor Kris Wyatt. “Verification confirms that our police department is operating in alignment with recognized professional standards and is committed to serving the public with integrity and accountability. It also positions us to take the next step toward full accreditation.” Verification is considered a key step on the path to accreditation, which involves a more comprehensive review process, including on-site assessments and long-term compliance with best practices.

“This milestone is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our officers and staff,” said Chief Webster, who was sworn in on March 14. “We are proud of this accomplishment, and we are already building on it as we move toward full accreditation. Our goal is to provide the highest level of service and professionalism to the citizens of Br istow.”
