Who Will You Follow?

Jaime lived near a 250-yearold historic house. The house was emptied and boarded up after the elderly heir died. One day, Jaime’s friend, Chuck, followed him inside, climbing in through an unlocked window. They only wanted to explore, ignoring the darkness. The boys imagined family life during centuries past.

People often take risks, but darkness can’t hide foolish choices.

When’s the last time you made a poor choice? Have you followed friends to a party where liquor flowed freely? You may have made a bad decision in the heat of passion, and now regret it.

A group of young people recently partied at an area lake, but a gun was brought along. Alcohol and guns don’t mix! Several were critically injured, and, sadly, one girl was killed. Just as her young life was beginning, it tragically ended. If only people would consider consequences before acting foolishly!

“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life” ( John 8:12).

Would you follow the light of Jesus, avoiding the dangers in darkness? Refuse to follow the crowd! You’ll have fewer problems!

God tells us, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will advise you with My eye upon you” (Psalm 32:8. The Lord cares about you!

God will make a new covenant between Himself and you, but only if you choose to enter into it.

“For in finding fault with the people, He says, ‘Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, when I will bring about a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers on the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; for they did not continue in My covenant, and I did not care about them,’ says the Lord.

“For this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel. After those days, declares the Lord: I will put My laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be My people. And they will not teach, each one his fellow citizen, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful toward their wrongdoings, and their sins I will no longer remember.

“When He said, ‘a new covenant,' He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is about to disappear” (Hebrews 8:8-13).

Who will you follow? Choose to follow Jesus! You won’t regret it!
