Stand off ends with jail time

On Tuesday, April 6, an officer from the Creek County Sheriff ’s office was dispatched to a residence on South 329th West Ave, in Bristow, in an attempt to located Robert Fisher, who was listed as an offender in a domestic assault and battery incident that occurred in Kellyville.

Upon arrival, the officer noticed Fisher seated outside the residence and also noticed three brown pit bull dogs in the yard with him. The officer asked Fisher if the dogs were aggressive and Fisher answered they were. He was then asked to secure the dogs somewhere, but refused to do so. The dogs started coming towards the officer in an aggressive manner and Fisher again was ordered to secure the dogs, but did not. One of the dogs charged the officer and attempted to bite the officer in the leg. The officer kicked at the dog and the dog bit the officer’s leg. Due to the immediate threat of bodily injury, the officer discharged his weapon. Two of the dogs fled and one was struck by the bullet. Immediately after the weapon was fired, Fisher started yelling profanity at the officer. Fisher started advancing towards the officer and was observed with a firearm in his right hand, creating an immediate and deadly threat. Fisher was ordered to drop the weapon but refused to do so, therefore it became a stand off. The officer maintained cover behind his patrol car until other arrived due to the non compliance of the officer’s orders. An officer from the Bristow Police Department and a highway patrol unit arrived.

It was observed that Fisher was unsteady on his feet and was slurring his words. He appeared to be under the influence. After 15 orders for Fisher to drop the weapon, the OHP officer fired a less lethal beanbag shotgun, striking Fisher twice and causing him to fall to the ground.

Inside the residence, the officers found a loaded shotgun on the table along with two open beer containers. Fisher is a convicted felon with a prior conviction for domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Fisher was put in handcuffs and taken to the Bristow Hospital for evaluation and later transported to the Creek County Jail where he will face the following charges. Count 1 Possession of a Firearm after a former felony conviction Count 2 Possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol; Count 3: Obstruction of an Officer and Count 4: Reckless Conduct with a Firearm.
