Following several complaints and concerns from residents about criminal activity in the area, the Bristow Police responded to an unauthorized encampment located on private property on the south side of Bristow. The individuals associated within the encampment had numerous arrests for narcotics and other crimes, therefore the police had previously responded to service calls at that location, including one incident where an officer had been attacked by a dog.
On Thursday, April 2, the Bristow Police made contact with the individuals at the encampment. The occupants were given the opportunity to collect personal belongings and important documents. The officers also offered assistance with transportation to shelters in Tulsa or a location of their choosing but all individuals declined the assistance.
During the operation, officers observed narcotics paraphernalia within the encampment. With the assistance of Creek County, the area was cleared to prevent future occupation. The individuals who were present during the operation, were given a trespass warning and allowed to leave the property.
As part of the ongoing effort to reduce crime in the city, the Bristow Police Department took action after numerous complaints from residents and to enhance public safety throughout the community.
