Why Think About Jesus?

The New Testament Scriptures have some exciting stories. You can read about an evil king who ordered the murders of all boys, two years old and younger. He wanted to eliminate a more important king. But God rescued the baby - Jesus. You can also read about the devil trying to lure Jesus away from His heavenly Father. Satan also lost that time!

There are historical accounts of Jesus giving sight to the blind, restoring hearing to the deaf, giving crippled people the ability to walk, raising people from the dead, and even walking on the stormtossed sea.

The Bible has recorded many other awesome works and miracles of God, which will help you see God’s power and Jesus’ compassion and love more clearly.

Hebrews chapters 11 and 12 remind the reader of some ordinary people, just like you, who have done some extraordinary deeds!

The only difference between them and you is their degree of faith. God strengthened those listed in Hebrews 11 because they had active faith.

“Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart” (Hebrews 12: 1- 3).

These people of active faith are witnesses to us that God works through His people! In God we trust!

Active faith requires that we rely upon God’s power, and not on our own. It is not what we can do, but what He will accomplish through us, according to our level of faith.

“Let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle,” the Hebrew writer says. What holds you back from growing a deep, trusting, and active faith?

You may appreciate the faith and works of those in Hebrews 11, and you may know someone with great faith like theirs, but your faith in God’s power will accomplish His will in you.

Jesus said, “…in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation…take courage; I have overcome the world” (John,16:33). Please, look to Jesus!

Trusting in the Lord Jesus can bring you through anything. Some day you will understand that faith in Jesus is a way of life. He died for you! My hope for you is that you will know Him and that your faith will grow.
