John’s father was a brilliant Professor of Philosophy at an American university. He’d poured his life into academia, but when death came, his decades of work were irrelevant.
John’s younger brother made a successful military career for himself, achieving the rank of Major. After being discharged, divorced, and losing his finances, all sense of purpose passed. His few remaining years were confined to a nursing facility. John visited one day, teaching him that atheism is not a good option. He listened and was baptized into Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:27).
Their youngest brother died an alcoholic, divorced, alone, and alienated from his children. He died having no purpose, without hope, and without Jesus!
“For by grace you have been saved through faith…it is the gift of God…you were…separate from Christ…having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you…have been brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:8, 11-13).
These three brothers were not taught to love the Lord Jesus. Atheism was their religion - no God, no hope, no purpose! In short,“Work out your own purpose, because there isn't anything after this life!” One atheist said this: “When you die, it ’s like a tomato that shrivels on the plant. It falls to the ground, and lies there, rots, and is absorbed into the earth.” The atheist ’s motto is “Eat, drink, and be merry!” Jesus told this parable: “And he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and I will store all my grain and my goods there. And I will say to myself, You have many goods stored up for many years to come; relax, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself!’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is demanded of you…who will own it now?’” (Luke 12:18-20).
John’s family forged their own destiny by having no use for God.
John became a high school science teacher. The theory of evolutionwashis ‘truth.’ Atheism is debunked annually by archeology, geology, and anthropology.
John scrutinized the Bible. He researched its content, comparing his beliefs to the Bible record. What did John realize? He came to believe that he was wrong about holding onto atheism.
Life isn’t a dead end at death, but atheism and e volution are! They’re worthless! Life is more purposeful than making a name for yourself. John Clayton learned that life is empty without Jesus.
