Getting to know the new Chief of Police

In the Feb. 26 issue of the Bristow News, it was announced that the city council had appointed Bristow Assisitant Chief of Police Kevin Webster as the communities new Chief of Police. Webster had been acting as Chief since the retirement of Chief Kendra Raney. So lets get to know our new Chief a little better.

Webster has been with the department for the past 10 years, holding the positions of investigator/detective and Assistant Chief of Police. He brings 28 years of law enforcement experience to the department. He is assigned to the District Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force and the Tulsa Safe Trails FBI Task Force. Looking back over the 28 years, Webster has held numerous leadership, instructional and investigative positions, also serving as a Public Information Officer, a Certified Child Forensic Interviewer and a Reserve Academy Coordinator.

Webster says he decided to join the police department because he enjoys the adventure and excitement of the job as well as the variety of work and he loves serving the community. He started out a reserve deputy for the Creek County Sheriff. After that he took a full time job as the jailer and dispatcher for the Creek County Sheriff , moving on to become a full time deputy. After some time in the private sector, Webster joined the Drumright Police Department as a police officer and then came to Bristow, 10 years ago, as a Detective/Investigator then promoted to assistant chief. Now he has been chosen to lead the department and is very excited to do so.

Webster grew up in Tulsa and attended St. Gregory’s University where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and has completed extensive criminal justice courses. He graduated from the Oklahoma Chiefs School and has earned certification as an Advanced Peace Officer and CLEET Advanced Instructor, along with credentials in active shooter response, tactical instructions, narcotics investigations, federal law enforcement instructions, as well as SWAT Operations. Webster also trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and served as an adjunct homicide investigations instructor.

Webster comes to the community with all the experience needed to do a great job for the department and residents of Bristow. He has a commitment to professional development and community safety. His leadership shows a clear vision for continued growth and serving the community in every aspect of his job. Welcome Chief of Police Kevin Webster.
