Loyd Dayne Joslen, a lifetime resident of Bristow, passed away on January 10, 2026, in Tulsa, at the age of 86. He was born on June 22, 1939, in Welty, to Fred and Esther Joslen, who instilled in him the values of hard work, compassion, and creativity that would define his life.
Loyd was a graduate of Gypsy High School. He dedicated much of his professional life to the business of selling vehicles and tractors. He first collaborated with his twin brother, Floyd, at Joslen’s Used Car. Loyd later owned Loyd’s Farm Equipment in Bristow, contributing to the local economy and helping farmers with their needs.
On Sept. 17, 1966, Loyd married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Hill, in Bristow. Loyd and Barbara were married for 59 years.
Throughout his life, Loyd was deeply involved in his community. He was a member of the Oak Street Church of God, where he served on the board for many years.
Loyd’s talents extended far beyond his professional endeavors. He was an excellent carpenter, known for his craftsmanship and ability to create beautiful structures. Notably, he built a house for his sister and brother-in-law. Loyd also had a passion for tractors and enjoyed doing extensive dirt work for others.
A talented musician, Loyd found joy in playing the electric guitar and piano, often sharing his musical gifts with friends and family. He played alongside his friends Hank and Jim Titus and Ken Garton and even graced the stage at the Creek County Jamboree in Bristow, where his love for music brought joy to many.
Loyd was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his parents Fred and Esther Joslen, brother, Floyd Joslen, and sisters Ruby Neece and Jenitta Williams.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Fogle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00AM, Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Oak Street Church of God with interment to follow at the Bristow City Cemetery. Services are under the directions of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
