You never hear about it on the NBC Evening News, though it affects everyone.
A Buddhist asked, “Must a person believe in miracles to become a Christian?” The response is YES! The greatest miracle in history is Jesus’ resurrection from death! (See Acts 4:8-10 and 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 to read about this historical event.) No one else can claim that! This is what makes Jesus unique.
The apostle Paul said that Jesus “was declared the Son of God with power…by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 1:4). The resurrection establishes Jesus as the divine Messiah and produces faith when doubters are persuaded by power and not just words.
Paul also wrote, “...by which you also are saved, if you hold firmly to the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For…as of first importance …Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and…was buried, and… was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures… Now if Christ… has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead… and if Christ has not been raised, then… your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins…if we have hoped in Christ only in this life, we are of all people most to be pitied. But the fact is, Christ has been raised from the dead…” (1 Corinthians 15:2-4, 12-20).
He further states that we are to “…wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is, Jesus who rescues us from the wrath to come” (1 Thessalonians 1:10).
Jesus’ resurrection was prophesied in Psalm 16:9-10, and the apostle Peter repeated it in Acts 2:26-27: “Therefore… My flesh also will dwell securely. For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; You will not allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.” Acts 2:32 tells us that the resurrection is the sign from God!
There’s only one God, and we know who He is because God raised Him from the dead, and He’s going to judge the world! People killed some early Christians because they said this!
Jesus was the first of many resurrections (see 1 Corinthians 15:22-23 and Romans 8:11). His resurrection eliminates the fear of death and gives hope to people who have faith. The most important event in your history will be your own resurrection! Jesus wants you to be raised from death and into eternal life in heaven with Him! Please read 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 in your own Bible.
