The community Day of Caring will be held next Friday, Sept. 12, 2025. Sharon VanOrsdol, who has been organizing the event for several years, says the Bristow Leadership class, along with volunteers, are on hand to help with the planned projects.
Day of Caring is a multiyear event organized by the Tulsa Area United Way in which volunteers participate in a wide range of community service projects for local nonprofits, schools, and other community organizations. These projects can include things like landscaping, painting, cleaning, administrative work, or other projects that the organizations need help with.
Again this year the Bristow High School Leadership Class will be helping with projects at the Bristow Social Services, and other areas in the community where help is needed.
Volunteers are always needed to help with the projects and it is a way for individuals to give back to the community. Lend a helping hand, mow someone's yard that is unable to do so themselves, grocery shop for an elderly neighbor or friend.
There are so many ways to help that would mean a lot to the community. Something as simple as making someone smile is a way to show you care. So if you are out and see a group making repairs or doing a good deed, stop and tell them thank you.
