The hard work and smart choices made by these students over the past two years have not only earned them college degrees while still in high school but also represent an estimated $75,000 in tuition savings at Oklahoma universities. Melissa Steadley, Director of Dual Credit Programs at Tulsa Community College, notes that their achievements clearly show how life-changing dual credit programs can be.
Dual enrollment programs offer much more than just academic advancement. Heather Butler, a counselor at Bristow High School, explains that these programs help students save money, prepare for college-level coursework, support career goals, and encourage personal growth. For the five seniors honored this year, Butler says dual enrollment has been a stepping stone to success in college and beyond.
To learn more about how students can take advantage of these opportunities, families are encouraged to visit www.tulsacc.edu/dualcredit and connect with their local high school counselors. According to Mrs. Butler, tuition waivers provided by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education cover up to 18 credit hours for all Oklahoma seniors, and Tulsa Community College also offers up to 12 credit hours for eligible juniors.
Congratulations to these five students on their outstanding achievements. Wishing them all the best as they take the next steps in their academic and professional journeys.
