Basil Baker was born Nov. 11, 1920 to John and Cordilia Baker in Bristow,. He departed this life March 25, 2025 at the age of 104 years.
Basil grew up in and around the Bristow area. July of 1940, Basil enlisted with the United States Army serving faithfully and honorably until his retirement. Basil and Ganda Meek were married in 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada sharing a life of love and laughter through the years. His service took him many different places throughout the United States; Bristow being home brought him back to settle. He served many years on the city council truly living a life of service greater than himself. Being a golf enthusiast, Basil spent his days when available on the golf course where if he wasn’t swinging a club, he was telling a story. Basil enjoyed reading, especially Louis Lamar westerns and spending time in his garden. Nothing brought him greater joy than the love he had for his family and the time he got to spend with them.
Basil is survived by his wife, Ganda; four children, Charlie Baker, John Baker, James Baker and Jessica Seachris; ten grandchildren, Kerri, Christi, Mandy, Zoie, Shaun, Alie, Kolson, Dawsyn, Ayden and Kyler; four great grandchildren, Tyler Austin, Dylan Austin, Richard Allen and Billy Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Linda; seven brothers and two sisters.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2025 at The Headquarters at Bell Cattle Company in Bristow.
