OCCA Carcass Contest and Beef Auction

The Okfuskee County CattlemanAssociation ( OCCA) would like to invite everyone to attend their February 20, 2025 Carcass Contest And Beef Auction at 6 p.m. at the Okfuskee County Fairgrounds.

No membership is required to attend and a 10-ounce New York Strip steak dinner is provided for all in attendance.

Eleven students from area schools are competing for the coveted belt buckle, cash prizes, and other awards as well as 100% percent of the proceeds from auctioning their beef to the donors in the audience. The OCCA is happy to provide this contest for their community for young cattlemen tolearn, practice, and evaluate different feeding and finishingtechniques. Young men and women weigh their cattle in September and keep a log of their costs to raise the baeef for butchering. Students participated in the Okfuskee County Spring Livestock Show on February 8 in Okemah. The meat is evaluated and presented at the Carcass Contest on February 20, and those in attendance have the opportunity to make a donation to the student for their half of a beef.

During the event, guests will enjoy a free steak dinner, presentations from the contestants, and have the opportunity to bid on the contestant’sa beef.

Twenty-two halves of beef will be up for auction. RingMaster House of Meats LLC, of Bristow, will be processing the animals. Local experts will be grading the meat for the contest. Buyers will be responsible for the processing costs and pickup from the processor of their auction winnings.

OCCA is excited to announce a partnership with GoBob Pipe and Steel America Farm and Ranch Equipment. GoBob is donating a Scientific Hay Conserver to add on at the end of the beef auction as an auction item to raise extra funds for the OCCA prizes and scholarships. He also issued a CHALLENGE. GoBob has donated these around the country and Cattlemen Associations have been competing to see how much money they can raise with each donation.

Check GoBob’s website for the prices on these with multiple lifetime warranties. Come join in the fun this week to promote the beef industry, youth competitions, and our local community.

If you or your business would like to make a cash donation for prizes, please contact Tom Goode at (940) 3939815.
