Our last Bible reading together included this: “We heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have for all the saints; because of the hope laid up for you in heaven…in the word of truth, the gospel… and understood the grace of God in truth” (Colossians 1:46).
Christians in Colassae made the big move from self-serving and self-satisfaction to self-denial. They placed all their trust and hope in Jesus! They had no hope of heaven, and no desire to honor Jesus before making their move to Him. Paul told them, your “hope (is) laid up for you in heaven.”
This came about by understanding “the grace of God in truth!” (Please read Galatians 5:13-25).
When these Christians moved to truly honor Jesus, the purpose for living was also understood. What is your purpose for living?
They heard God’s message aof truth, and by His grace, they moved into the Lord Jesus (Please read in your Bible Romans 6:1-23 and Galatians 3:26-27).
They moved from the depths of darkness, without God, without forgiveness of their sins, and without hope of heaven into the kingdom of life through Jesus Christ: “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn (pre-eminent) of all creation. For by Him, all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible…all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together” (Colossians1:13-17).
Are you ready and willing to make your move into Jesus? You may be hearing God’s Word every Sunday morning, but how has that changed your way of life each day?
Paul adds this to the Christian life: “So that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects… and increasing in the knowledge of God…He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything” (Colossians1:10-11,18).
Finally, the apostle John wrote: “What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3). Make your move to Jesus and accomplish God’s will for your life!
