Katy’s Tidbits from around the community

Bacon Cheeseburger Challenge

B-Town Grill recently challenged all local restaurants to a best bacon cheeseburger contest. All community members may serve as judges by visiting local eateries, purchasing and eating the burgers. Be sure to compare the burgers from several local businesses and let owners—and the paper—know your favorite!

Bunco for Blessings

September’s Bunco for Blessings Ladies’ bunco night will be held Thursday, September 5, at 6:30 p.m. The games will be held at the Center of Hope located at 102 North Main Street. Entrance fees of $5 will be charged per person. Funds raised will benefit the Bristow Noon Lions Club, supporting their vision screening and eyeglass provision efforts. Please be sure to note the slightly earlier time of play this month.

Mowing & Street Safety

Mowing or blowing grass clippings and other natural debris such as fallen leaves into roadways causes safety hazards, especially for motorcycles and bicycles as they can lose traction. Despite Bristow having an ordinance requiring mowers to refrain from the practice, many locals continue to discharge clippings into the streets. Please remember to keep streets clear and safe for all.

Karaoke Roulette

Last Friday, August 31, CJ’s Bar and C & J Kountry Fixin’s held its comedy night followed by the ever-entertaining Karaoke Roulette in the main bar. CJ’s Bar is located at 36921 West Highway 66 in the old Elks Lodge building.
