Beginning Sept.1, 2024 Oklahomans will be seeing a new Oklahoma license plate. The design is very different from the current Oklahoma license plate. It is a red background with white lettering and has the words “Imagine That” on the bottom. The new plate resembles the Red 46 flag that was used from 1911 to 1925.There are also designs in each of the bottom corners representing the Skydance Bridge Oklahoma City Memorial, Route 66, Sacred Rain Arrow Statue, A Wind Turbine, Waving Wheat, American Bison which is the state mammal, Red-tailed Hawk, the state raptor and the iconic Golden Driller, the state monument. The state will begin issuing the new plate on Sept. 1, 2024 for newly purchased vehicles in Oklahoma.
Oklahomans wishing to upgrade to the 'Iconic Oklahoma Plate' can do so by paying a $4 plate replacement fee during their vehicle registration renewal at their local tag agency. More than 250,000 plates have already been printed at the Dick Conner Correctional Facility in Hominy. Freestyle Creative, a marketing and advertising firm based in Oklahoma City designed the plate.
