Creek County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee attends Annual Leadership

Creek County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee attends Annual Leadership Conference in Oklahoma City. Those attending were Linda Enlow, Phyllis Holcomb, Carmella Johnson and daughter Bridgette Talbott and granddaughter Aubrey Ogletree from Creek County.

The purpose of this Conference was for the OFB Women from across the state to participate for a weekend of fellowship for farm and ranch women, to work on service projects to be donated to the Ronald Mc-Donald House and a session of writing appreciation notes to Veterans and our Legislators. The third project was a Silent Auction to raise monies for an OFB Women’s Leadership Project Bushels for Books Program.

The Bushels for Books is a program sponsored by the OKFB Foundation for Agriculture and the OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee to provide accurate agriculture books to Classrooms throughout the state. Teachers can go online to OKFB.com and click on Women’s Leadership Committee, next click Applications. The applications are due June 10, 2024. If you have a problem contact the Creek County Office in Bristow and you will be put in contact with Phyllis Holcomb Chairman of the Women’s Committee. The Bushel’s For Books program is for Teachers K-8.

Speaker for the evening was Ok Highway Patrolman Charlie Hanger of Perry who was the arresting officer of convicted OK City bomber Timothy McVeigh. This talk marked the 29thAnniversary of the bombing. After dinner and program OKFB President Rodd Moesel took the ladies on a bus tour of the OKC Memorial.

Saturday luncheon speaker was Farmer and Risk Management Agency Product Administration and Standards Administrator Francie Tolle who shared her Farm Bureau and Agriculture story from her family’s migrant 3rd generation family to the present story.

The afternoon continued with other interesting sessions including Ag in the Class lessons, Farm Transition Strategies , Adding flowers to gardens and landscaping, WLC program idea sharing, food preparation techniques, choosing ideal beef cuts and more.

These educational conferences are a great way to learn involvement techniques for Farm and Ranch Women from all 77 counties. Anyone wanting to know more can go online or contact the Creek County FB office in Bristow.
