Central Tech is Victorious at State Leadership and Skills Conference

Central Tech attended the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference, which took place at the Cox Business Convention Center located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from April 21-23, 2024.

Central Tech is excited to share the excellent accomplishments of our students across 38 career competition events, including Job Exhibit – Fantasy Makeup, Motorcycle Service, Advertising Design, and Crime Scene Investigation. A total of 17 students qualified for nationals in Atlanta, GA taking place on June 24-28, 2024.

Impressively, 33 students secured top positions, with 18 achieving first place. Congratulations to all our talented students!

We take great pride in recognizing the outstanding achievements of our students at Central Tech, such as Jamison McNiel, a student in Welding & Fabrication Technology, who received the Breaking Traditions award at the 2024 Oklahoma SkillsUSA SLSC Awards Ceremony. This prestigious award is presented by the Oklahoma Career and Technical Education Equity Council. To qualify for this award, students must undergo training in a career that is deemed nontraditional for their gender and excel in their area of study.

“Jamison’s victory in the Breaking Traditions award is a testament to her exceptional skills and dedication, breaking through stereotypes and paving the way for other women in our industry. Her achievement not only celebrates her individual talent but also symbolizes progress and inclusivity in traditionally male-dominated fields,” said Troy Elliott, Central Tech’s Welding and Fabrication Technology instructor on the Drumright campus. What a successful event it was for all Central Tech students!

“We’re incredibly proud of our competitors who showcased their talents and represented Central Tech at SkillsUSA. Congratulations to all winners, and best of luck to those moving on to nationals,” said Mike Baugus, Central Tech’s assistant campus director on the Sapulpa campus.
