Do you know any local person who has served or is currently serving in the military? The Bristow Historical Society, Inc. is launching a fundraiser that will purchase individualized red, white and blue military banners to hang on Main Street to honor our local heroes. Banners will hang during the month of May, preceding Memorial Day, the 4th of July week and the week of Veteran’s Day in November.
Each banner will feature the photo of your local soldier, his/her military branch and perhaps dates of service or location, depending on available banner space. Currently there are 26 available locations for banners but the society is hopeful that more will become available as the city makes repairs to light poles If you would like to honor your local military hero, the cost is $150 annually and the society is accepting applications now for this new program. Your photo will need to be in pdf. or jpg. format and you may email us at contactus@bristowhistory.org or call us at the depot to pay over the phone (918)-367-9335. After this initial year, renewals or new applications will be accepted each August until the spots are filled.
Banners will be printed in the order they are received. Your order needs to be complete with photo, info, and payment so find a good quality photo and let’s make this happen. These longforgotten soldiers deserve some recognition, and we can’t wait to see these beautiful red, white and blue banners up and down Main Street. As always, 100% of your money goes back into operating the Bristow Historical Museum at the depot .
