Bristow’s Methodist Children’s Day Out program, CDO, hosts large sales each summer to boost program funding. The sales are famous community wide for their great deals. Program Director Elaine Murphy excitedly announces this year’s sale will be on Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6, along with other 100-mile yard sales scattered throughout the community and around northeastern Oklahoma.
Each year, CDO sales offer customers a wide variety of goods from which to choose as the gym is often packed with hidden treasures. This year’s sale will be even bigger than usual with so many offerings that organizers were unable to sort items as they have historically done. Offerings include various exercise equipment, housewares and other household décor, books, toys and children’s items, clothing for all ages, furniture, holiday décor, shoes, kitchen utensils, and more.
All funds raised by the sale support the program through the purchase of needed supplies, snacks, playground equipment and toys, classroom furniture, learning materials, and special fun activities such as field trips and celebratory fun days.
The sale will be held rain or shine in the Rhanda Foster Youth and Community Center also known as the Methodist Church Gym from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. Patrons looking to purchase items must bring cash as the sale is a cash only event. Elaine hopes the community will turn out for the sale and buy everything in support of the youngsters who attend the program, saying “Children are our most precious commodity. In buying from our sales, our kids get a great start in life as they learn academic, social, and relational skills. With us, they also become acquainted with Jesus and helping others. Help us raise our future community.”
