Loeffler departs after more than 30 years of service
District 24 District Attorney Max Cook announces the retirement of First Assistant District Attorney Mike Loeffler on March 1, 2023. Loeffler has served the prosecutor's office for Creek and Okfuskee counties since 1990.
'For more than 30 years, Mike has served the people of Creek and Okfuskee counties with compassion, level-headedness and always with an eye toward justice,' said Cook. 'His passion for the safety of Oklahomans set a standard for which younger prosecutors throughout the state aspire.'
Loeffler's long career as a prosecutor included numerous high-profile cases which saw the prosecution and conviction of some of the area's most dangerous criminals, including double-murderer Scott Eizember, who was executed last month. His work was also instrumental in the creation of the county's drug court and veteran court programs, which helps non-violent offenders rehabilitate into a life free of drugs and crime.
Loeffler plans to spend his retirement working on his ranch in Creek County and traveling the country training other prosecutors on creating their own successful drug court and veteran court programs.
