Local artist Eva Barnes of Route 66 Artisans on Main recently began creating special Christmas ornaments for the Bristow Historical Society (BHS). Her one-of-akind ornaments are being sold in support of BHS’ Route 66 Landmark Renovation Project. For those unfamiliar with the renovation project, BHS is raising money to restore four local historic landmarks. Renovative efforts will include the restoration and relighting of Bristow’s iconic Chrysler Plymouth Tower on East 9th Avenue, continued updates to the 1923 FRISCO train depot, which houses BHS and the museum, the restoration of the 1929 FRISCO water tower, which is adjacent to Bristow Fire Station on the east side and to the southwest of the depot and is one of only two remaining original towers, and the painting and rejuvenation of Bristow’s Town Square area along Main Street between East 6th and 7th Avenues.
Thanks to Eva’s talent, the hand painted, limited edition ornaments offer fun, unique gifts in support of a significant historical preservation project. The ornaments may be purchased by phone at (918) 367-9335 or in person at the depot for $10.50 each and can be mailed for an additional fee of $2. According to BHS, all proceeds support the landmark project.
