Joe Hill joined the Rotary Club of Bristow around 2018. Soon thereafter, he suggested selling poinsettias at Christmas as a fundraiser for the club. This holiday season, for the fourth consecutive year, Rotarians purchased beautiful poinsettias to sell. Those plants arrived Monday.
Hill noted that to have enough poinsettias on hand to sell each holiday season, Rotarians must determine how many plants they hope to sell and then place their orders in August. Because the plants proved difficult to acquire this year, the Rotary Club ordered a reduced number of plants, receiving around 100 ten-inch potted, red poinsettias for this season.
Community members enjoy the plants and express their support each year by purchasing all the club’s poinsettias. In fact, Mr. Hill said that upon receiving the plants this past Monday, he and other Rotarians delivered around forty of the plants that same day. As of time of print, he said around fifty plants remain available for purchase. Each poinsettia sells for $30, or four plants may be purchased for $100. Anyone interested in purchasing a poinsettia may email Mr. Hill at jhill@spiritbank. com or comment on any of the poinsettia posts found on the club’s Facebook page: Rotary Club of Bristow.
Of the fundraiser, Mr. Hill suggested the poinsettias are “… a great project. The flowers are very pretty for a good value. We’re pleased to offer them to the community for purchase in support of our other community projects, which all serve Bristow.”
Rotarians meet each Thursday at noon in the back room of Pizza Hut. Mr. Hill said that anyone interested in learning more about the club is welcomed to attend a luncheon to learn more or inquire about joining.
