Several counties have issued or extended the current burn ban. Creek County is one of those counties.
Due to the current drought conditions and no relief in sight bun bans are necessary for the counties, in order to help control wildfires from breaking out. Burn bans are issued based on a variety of factors including current drought conditions, projected amount of rainfall and projected upcoming temperatures. Counties will typically issue either sevenday or 14-day burn bans. Counties can also end burn bans if conditions allow them to do so.
Anyone found violating the burn bans can face penalties and possible jail time. Under a county burn ban, it’s up to a $500 fine and up to one year in the county jail.
