Commercial Cattle Grading Contest has been going one since the early 80’s or as long as Derrick Markes can remember. The contest has three categories that the FFA and 4H students have to grade. They will also grade a mixer of cows, heffers, and steers. The ages of the cattle range from 5-12 years. Friday at the Mid America Stockyards there will be over 1000 students judging. Most contests have 50 - 300 teams at them. Four students make up a team. They will see 12-16 heads of cattle in a contest. Commercial Cattle Grading Contest starts in June and goes through September. It has a state that the students look forward to. It is at the Tulsa State Fair. So if you would like to see these students in action you can watch them at the Tulsa State Fair on Sept. 29.
