The Bristow, OK Artisans and Gardeners Market is pleased to announce its successful community event, Touch-A-Truck Kids Day Event.
The Artisans and Gardeners Market of Bristow, Oklahoma hosted its second annual Touch-A-Truck Kids Day Event on August 6, 2022 from 9:09 a.m. to 11 a.m.
This free community event offered free school supplies and toothbrushes to all, 18 trucks to touch and tour, and over 20 vendors with handmade and homegrown items. All school supply donations were from the community. A true outpouring of love, cash, community, and gift cards funded two pickup beds full of supplies. Cheyenne Dunbar of SpiritBank and Rotary Club of Bristow reported. “We gave away the 55 donated backpacks within the first 12 minutes of the school supply line. Our amazing volunteers from SpiritBank and Rotary Club helped families bag their supplies for over an hour and a half before the line of friends ended.
During this car show of sorts, the Touch-A-Truck Kids Day Event welcomed over 18 local businesses, individuals, and first responders to show off their trucks and allow people to tour them. The horn honking, engine revving, and fun went on for hours as families posed for pictures with rigs both big and small. We heard many compliments from children and adults alike, “I loved honking the big horns for a long time. This is the best day ever. My grandson is still thanking me for taking him.”
As Pyllys Mahoney said, “I like that it was a true homemade craft show.” This high praise is exactly what the vision is for this market, truly homemade and truly community. What better way to bring everyone together than to spotlight local business owners, local producers, local artists, local kids, and really cool local trucks.
A huge thank you goes to our Boy Scout Troop 571 who arranged the parking of the trucks. This event could not have happened without their help. To help the Boy Scouts, sign up for their yearly fundraiser, the Boy Scout Flag Subscription which is currently taking more members.
Please contact Amos Ingram by phone at (918) 605-0768 to become a Flag Subscription Member for an American flag to be placed at your home or business for patriotic holidays. You can also contact Mr. Ingram about membership to the troop that meets on Monday at 6:31 p.m. at the First Church of God on Walnut.
The Market would also like to thank the Rotary Club of Bristow volunteers as well as the team at SpiritBank that made this school supply distribution possible. Be on the look out towards the end of November for the annual Rotary Club Poinsettia Sale. Some of the initiatives that all Rotarians work together for are Saving Mother’s Children, Supporting Education, and Growing Local Economies. Your many hands made for light work, and we thank you so much for your time and energy in the planning, delivery, and sharing of the supplies.
