Most people are fully aware of where they were on the date of a significant historical event. If you were around on November 22, 1963, you likely remember your exact location when the shocking event of John F. Kennedy’s assassination was announced.
Where were you when the horrifying events of September 11, 2001 stunned the country and the world? Several significant historic events have taken place in the timeline of America.
No one living today knows the exact date when Jesus was crucified and raised from His tomb. But people today are able to know exactly where they were the day they met Him.
There were some hard-working fishermen still in their boat after a long night of catching no fish. Jesus climbed into one of the boats. He instructed the fisherman to let down their net for a catch.
There was something amazing about Jesus. The net was let down and the catch was so large it began breaking their nets, and the boat began to sink. Peter, James, and John would always remember where they were when they met Jesus. (Luke 5:4-11)
Another man, Nathaniel, was praying under a tree one day. The disciple, Philip, spoke to him. As he approached, Jesus made a curious statement about Nathaniel: “Ah, an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.” Nathaniel always remembered where he was the day he met Jesus. ( John 1:48-50).
Then there’s a woman called Mary. Scripture tells us that Jesus had cast out several demons from her (Luke 7:37-
38; 47, 48, 50; 8:1-3). You would know where you were the day you met Jesus if He had done this for you.
Many others knew where they were the day they met Jesus. Some are reading this now. Your name isn’t found in the Bible. Most people reading this may not know who you are. But you may remember where you were the day you met Jesus.
Have you met Him? If you have met Jesus, are you following Him? If you met Jesus many years ago, do you still remember where you were that day? You can meet Jesus today as you read your Bible. For the past two thousand years people have met Him through God’s Word, the Bible. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). Do you want to meet Jesus? Listen to God, and come to know Him!
