Rosa Jean Baker was born Feb. 8, 1933, to Earl Henry and Purly May Burgett in Slick. She departed this life May 15, 2022, at the age of 89.
She graduated from Slick High School and later attended Central Area Vo-Tech where she received her nursing certificate. She retired after 32 years of nursing.
On July 23, 1951, Allen George Baker, and Rosa Jean Burgett were united in marriage. From this union were born three children, Sharon Kay, Juanita Sue, and Kenneth Ray. They enjoyed almost 70 years together before his passing Jan. 17, 2021.
She enjoyed gardening and traveling to Colorado where she along with her husband, Allen operated a campground during the summers. They would then spend the winters in Texas.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Kay Redford, and Juanita Sue Gulliver; two brothers, Larry Wayne Burgett and Davy Leon Burgett; five grandchildren, Richard Allen Redford, Richard Elmer Huls, Angela Dawn Wages, Bridget Diann Alexander, and Olivia Jean Baker; 11 great grandchildren, Nadine Huls, Cierra Steffenson, Taylor Huls, Alexis Redford, Taylor M. Redford, Taylor A. Redford, Baylen Wages, Brylynn Wages, Emily Alexander, Kolton Alexander, and Jessica Redford; 10 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Kenneth Ray Baker, one brother, Franklin Howard Burgett, one sister, Bettie Ann Cooper, and one grandson, Richard Ray Redford II.
Services were scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Tuskegee Cemetery.
