The National Day of Prayer is designated each year for the first Thursday in May. It was celebrated here in Bristow, last week at 12:00 noon. The weather may have been uncooperative for gathering outside City Hall, but Mayor Pinson, local Pastors and many other citizens gathered together inside the Council Chambers for a time of corporate prayer.
“Exalt the Lord, Who Has Established Us (Colossians 2:6-7)” was this yeas theme. Rev. Eric Parker, President of the Ministerial Alliance opened with a welcome and commencement prayer. He also read the Proclamation prepared by President Joseph Biden. Rev. Andrew Spooner, member of the Bristow Ministerial Alliance coordinated the event. He graciously read various Scriptures, each followed by a prayer from other Clergy and Citizens! He also led us in our time of silent prayer and confession as we prepared our hearts for effective prayer.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, led by April Spooner, Mayor Rick Pinson greeted the participants, welcomed our gathering and lifted a prayer up to God for our city. Afterwards, Minister Jordan Travis prayed for our educators and students. Pastor DJ Carney prayed for government leaders: President Joe Biden, Governor Kevin Stitt and Mayor Pinson. Miss June Hurst our retired librarian prayed for the business in Bristow. Rev. Jeanne Stewart prayed for unity in our community. Rev. John Tidwell prayed for the churches of Bristow. Toni Godwin closed our prayer time interceding for a spiritual revival in our community and in our nation. There were many others present who prayed in agreement. Many thanks to all who came and celebrated the National Day of Prayer. The Bristow Ministerial Alliance ask all of our citizens to join us, as we continue throughout this year praying and giving thanks to God for the United States of America. He has established us, so let us continually seek and exalt Him.
