The Dollhouse Beautique presented the “Merry Mini “ Mode Fashion Show” for the residents of the Rainbow Health Care Community last Saturday, Dec. 11 at 3 p.m., providing some cheer and fun long missed due to the pandemic. All models and attendees wore masks to guard against spreading COVID-19 and other viral illnesses to residents. Parents and other attendees remained in the foyer throughout the show, providing a buffer zone of protection as well.
Show models ranged in age from 2 to 10 years: Laikyn Riley (2), Jazmin Lowery (4), Lauren Acacio (5), Shyla Arnold (6), Kaitlyn Colley (7), Madi Chambers (7), Isabelle Harris (8), Kaylyn Ragsdale (8), and Charlotte Whitaker (10). Emery Estill, granddaughter of Dollhouse Beautique owner and dressed as a beautifully festive Santa’s helper, aided young models by walking the runway with them.
Fashion show models dazzled the audience to a backdrop of music, flaunting their festive outfits in each of three categories: fancy, fun, and pajama. As Dollhouse Beautique owner and event organizer Tanya Langley announced their names, the girls paraded the walkway. Residents smiled, laughed, oohed, and aahed, as the girls, dressed as Christmas trees and adorned in colorful lights and sparkles, sauntered about the room. Fol lowing the show, fashion models delivered Christmas stockings filled with goodies donated by the community to each resident. Donations included hygiene, hobby, snuggly, and fun items.
Tanya planned the event in only two weeks’ time, hoping to offer some holiday cheer for residents stuck in a drought of connection throughout the pandemic. Residents’ smiles proved her efforts welcomed and appreciated. In fact, at the end of the show, one resident got up with her walker and strutted down the aisle to applause. She wore a flirtatious and infectious smile that lit up the room. As a result of the show, residents and participants left with a hope and joy that comes from sharing Christmas cheer.
