The unforgettable vocal talent of David Phelps and his musical entourage will ring throughout the Freeland Center the evening of December 4th for a magical evening of beloved Christmas favorites.
Over more than two decades, David built his world-renowned career with a pure, heartfelt voice that spans more than three octaves. Singing with the awardwinning Gaither Vocal Band for fifteen years, who won multiple Dove and Grammy awards, proved to be a foundational career move, providing him ample opportunity to be heard and beloved by audiences worldwide. He continues his personal journey, expressing his love and passion for music, as an upcoming Christian contemporary artist. Like many, his passion began in childhood.
When asked about his passion for music and performing, David said, “I performed in a community talent show at the age of 14. When I walked off the stage, someone said, ‘You got a standing ovation!’ When I peeked through the curtain and saw everyone on their feet I was hooked.” To the delight of faithful audiences spanning the globe, he has continued performing ever since, and listening to him sing, it is easy to understand why he received that ovation. His irresistible voice eagerly beckons listeners.
David diligently prepares for each concert to give his audiences the best experience possible. Unlike many performers, he makes every effort to connect with his audience— no matter the size, appreciating that the moment and experience is unique: “We will never all be in the same room together again.” For someone who has performed at the White House, Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Sydney Opera House, David Phelps will still make the effort to connect to his audience at the Freeland. For him, each audience matters.
Offering a bit of something for everyone, his Freeland performance is part of his “It Must Be Christmas Tour” and includes a Christian and secular mix of treasured Christmas songs. He will perform classics like “Sleigh Bells”, “Go Tell It on the Mountain”, “Fall on Your Knees”, and “Anthem of the Lord” for the show, which will run for about 2 hours and 20 minutes. David hopes all who attend find hope and joy in the sentimental, festive songs and enjoy the show.
From humble beginnings to an exciting worldwide career as a sensational vocalist whose voice melts away the burdens of stress and anxieties we allow ourselves to carry, David Phelps and his fellow musicians sing for joy and hope this holiday season.
