Saddle Up for Western Heritage Days

Saddle up for a grand ole time as Western Heritage Days arrive August 20th through the 21st. As Western Heritage Days ride into town, community businesses can participate and prepare for their arrival through the storefront decorating contest, sponsored by the Bristow Rotary Club. Businesses are encouraged to decorate storefronts with a western theme and submit photos for judging purposes. The winner will be awarded a $100 prize.

Western Heritage Days events include inflatables and activities for children, food trucks, vendors, crafts, live music, a parade, tractor show, petting zoo, old west photo opportunities, rodeo, and dance. The rodeo begins on August 20th at 8:00 p.m. with concessions, food trucks, and other familyfriendly fun activities. The rodeo occurs again at the same time and place Saturday evening with a dance to follow. Live music performers include Gamin Fremin &CCREV, Chris Matthews & The Wanted One, and Shandee Lane.

Saturday daytime events include the parade and tractor show. Located at 5th Avenue and Main Street, the tractor show is free to all and is sponsored by Varner’s Equipment. The show runs from 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Tractors of all makes, models, and eras will be available for viewing.

As for the parade, it begins at 10:00 a.m., running from north to south on Main Street. All participants are required to present a western heritage theme; however, everyone is encouraged to participate, dressing and acting in accordance with our local western heritage. Prizes for best entrants, floats, costume, and animal will be awarded by Mainer Ford, who is sponsoring the parade prizes.
