Dale Thomas Bird Sr. was born Aug. 30, 1937, to Raymond and Dovie Bird in Bristow. He departed this life June 22, 2021, at the age of 83.
He graduated from Bristow High School in 1956. After graduation he served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1959 as active duty. He continued in the Navy reserves until 1962.
On Feb. 20, , Dale Thomas Bird Sr. and Julia Douglas were united in marriage. From this union were born two sons, Dale Jr. and Doug.
Dale enjoyed working on all kinds of vehicles, motorcycles, mowers, and tractors. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix especially, tractors. He restored a number of tractors over the years. He also enjoyed spending time on the lake riding in the boat and water skiing. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Julia Bird; two sons, Dale Thomas Bird, Jr. and wife, Delva and Doug Bird; two sisters, Janice Cunningham and Carol Jones; four grandchildren, Dale Thomas Bird III, Dalena Black, Dalton Bird and Daley Bird; two great grandchildren, Mattie and Rhett Black.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Cleburn Bird, one infant sister, Betty Bird and one great grandchild, Eliott Avery Black.
Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Bristow Church of the Nazarene with interment following at Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
