For lovers of dice games and socialization, Bristow Bunco recently resumed its gaming night. Every third Thursday of the month, Bristow Bunco convenes for a night of fun with neighbors, friends, and soon-to-be-friends. In fact, Karen Pinson created the group a couple of years ago to meet new people, make new friends, and have some fun.
After moving to Bristow, Karen wanted to meet people from the community and decided to start a local bunco group. In 2019, she created the group, which met and played throughout the year until COVID-19 forced the group to temporarily suspend their activities. Two months ago, the group decided they could slowly restart the fun, and playing has provided a respite for pandemic weary residents, itching to restore some excitement and normality to life.
Anyone can join Bristow Bunco game nights. No membership, commitments, or fees are required to attend or play. Players may choose to attend one month and leave, join every month, or pop in to play in months of their choosing. Players must be 18 or older; while the group currently consists primarily of women, men are also welcome. Each player must bring an unwrapped gift equal to or less than $10 in value each month as every player leaves with a gift. Players may bring snacks for themselves or to share with the others as well.
Karen encourages everyone to try it at least once. With a smile on her face and cheerfully rosy cheeks, she reassures those hesitant to join, saying, “It’s very easy to learn, and everybody helps everybody. We have lots of fun, lots of laughs, meet new people, and make new friends together. We have built a camaraderie among us. Please join. We’d love to have you.”
Bristow Bunco’s next game night is Thursday evening, June 17th. Bunco begins at 6:30 at the Bristow VFW. Be sure to bring an unwrapped gift and be prepared for a night of laughter and fun. For additional information, Bristow Bunco maintains a Facebook group by the same name, which players are encouraged to join.
