Shirley Nadean Wahl, 1942 - 2020

Shirley Nadean Wahl was born Aug. 5, 1942, to Leonard and Sibyl Webster, in Bristow. She departed this life Nov. 18, 2020, at the age of 78 years, three months and 13 days.

Shirley chose to stay home when she had her first child, but went back later to complete her GED. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Carson and from this union were born Larry and Cissie. She later married Jay Hockaday Jr. and Emmy was born. Later Shirley and N. R. Wahl were married, spending 52 years together.

She loved getting together with her family, especially dancing with her grandchildren, playing cards, Bingo and always finding time to paint ceramics. Shirley enjoyed spending time at the lake on the boat as well. She spent many years working for both Safeway and Homeland, retiring in 1989. She and N.R. owned “Wahls Cut and Wrap Shop” which later became “Papa’s Ceramics.” During the winter months she traveled to Mission, Texas where she coordinated activities for the residents of Chimney Park. She volunteered every year to do the Veterans’ Day Celebration. She will be missed, and her memory will never fade.

She is survived by her children, Larry Donald Carson and wife DeLes, Cissie Gaskins-Hill and husband Soloman, Emmy Archibald and husband Martin; one brother, Larry Dean Webster; six grandchildren, Nathon Gaskins and wife Sarah, Brandy Hallman and husband Ben, Jeremy Gaskins, Tiffany Butterfield and husband D.J., Tasha Towler and Chris Archibald; bonus granddaughters, Beverly Farley, Sabrina Hill, Tamara Hill, Mindy Hill and Heidi Hemmingway; Ten great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepdad, Amos Yocum, sister, Barbara Webster and son in law, Sammy Gaskins.

Graveside services were held 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 23, 2020 at the Sunrise Cemetery with Reverend D.J. Carney officiating.
