COVID-19 continues on rampage

Forty one states are seeing a spike in COVID 19 cases. Is this a second round of this virus or are we still in the first phase? The total amount of confirmed cases across the U.S. has reached a staggering 8,702,750 since the pandemic began. The Oklahoma Department of Health reports 5,016,589 active cases and 3,460,55 persons have recovered from the virus as of Oct. 26, 2020. The U.S. saw 66,784 new confirmed cases on Monday, Oct. 26, with 477 deaths in a single day. Oklahoma is still considered one of the states that has seen a large increase in cases, reporting 663 new case on Oct. 26. That is the lowest increase since Oct. 5. The daily rate for infected cases as been over 1,000 per day in the state. Currently Oklahoma has 117,399 confirmed cases with 15,791 being active cases and report 100,357 recoveries. Creek County currently stands at 1,568 cases and 37 deaths. Bristow has reached 234 cases and nine deaths.

The recent surge in cases is once again making it hard on nursing homes and senior living facilities. Most of the facilities are in crisis mode and are having trouble finding staff. While the staff are all tested and wear PPE, there is still fear among the employees. The staff and some residents are worried about spreading the virus within their facilties and residents are missing their families and loved ones.

It is still reported that persons age 18-35 makes up 34.66 percent of cases, those 34-49 at 21.4 percent, 50-64 at 18.32 percent, 65 and over at 14.2 percent and the younger five to 17 years is at 9.56 percent and zero to four years of age at 1.86 percent.
