On Saturday, July 29, 2023, two separate accidents occurred, one taking the life of a 36 year old Stroud resident.This accident occurred on State Highway 99 , three miles north of Stroud. Thirty one year old Ariel Navarro, of Banning California, with passengers, 36 year old Brian Burke, of Stroud ad a 12 year old juvenile passenger, also of Stroud, was driving her 1999 Honda Accord. The cause of the accident is still under investigation but Burke was pronounced at the scene. Navarro was transported by Miller EMS to OU Medical Center, treated and released while the juvenile was also taken by Miller EMS to OU Children's Hospital, treated and released.
The second accident happened one mile north and two miles west of Kellyville. Jill Tarise, age 42, of Sapulpa, was riding her 2020 Polaris Sportsman southbound on 241st West Ave, when she lost control, departed the roadway, then reentered the roadway, rolling one time before departing the roadway again, this time, striking a ditch. Tarise was taken by Creek County EMS to St. Francis Hospital , admitted in critical condition.
