Bristow’s first recycling venture with Replenysh, Inc. proved successful as Saturday’s drive resulted in the collection of 1,980 pounds of recyclables, preventing them from polluting the environment in a landfill. Additionally, Bristow Social Services received $300 from the sale of our materials and a donation by Replenysh.
Not only was our inaugural drive successful but Bristow is the first Replenysh network in Oklahoma, allowing us to learn and demonstrate the benefits of circular recycling for our families, communities, businesses, and environment with other communities as well. Our efforts have the potential to grow and expand across the state, exponentially impacting our positive business and environmental practices for future generations of Oklahomans.
eplenysh, Inc. of California developed a circular networking plan for recycling beneficial for businesses and communities alike. Businesses utilizing recyclable materials buy the necessary materials from network communities. Communities donate the desired materials at a pre-determined location where the sorted items are placed in large containers during collection. Once filled, the containers’ contents are weighed and loaded into a trailer. After all the recyclable materials are loaded, the trailer is driven to the purchasers, and the materials are immediately redeemed. The moneys received are then returned to the community as a donation to various community charities. The purchased materials are then converted into usable product by the purchasing companies and resold to the very communities who recycle. The resultant circular network is a beautifully natural, simple solution to our waste problem. We all benefit.
City Councilor Kris Wyatt worked with Replenysh to bring the unique recycling network to Bristow. If our first drive shows us anything, it is that we strive to live cleaner and do better. We crave positive change. By selling our used materials to companies converting them to product and buying from companies who utilized recycled materials in their product, we reduce waste and pollution and determine the supply and demand of our recyclable materials. Each of us determines how we change the world. Recycling with Replenysh creates positive change and additional opportunities for positive change in our lives, community, environment, and world.
Our next recycling drive will be this Saturday. Acceptable recyclable materials for donation include: PETE 1 plastics, HDPE 2 plastics, cardboard, aluminum, steel food cans, and glass. To determine if plastic is recyclable, look for a triangle of circular arrows on the bottom or back of the container. The number will be inside the triangle of arrows and the acronym of letters below it. Our turnout and collection were great last Saturday, and we aim to do well this weekend as well. Gather up recyclable materials, and let’s do this together for a cleaner tomorrow!
