Pastor Chuck Scroggs Sr. is coming back to Bristow to preach this coming Sunday morning, Feb. 20, 2022, at the Bristow Advent Christian Church where Johnathan and Chrisy Scroggs have been helping lead worship with a full live band for about eight months now.
Pastor Chuck Scroggs began Project Main Street in Bristow soon after their family moved here from Indiana. Even though Bristow had beautiful flags along the cemetery, there weren't any flying up town at that time and the Scroggs family noticed that void.
Chuck moved here originally to Pastor the Church of God on 2nd and Oak and was there over 12 years. During that time he gathered his family and other helpers and saw to it that Bristow had a flag pole holder on all the light poles throughout main street. They would go to local businesses and ask if they could help by purchasing the materials needed to have a flag flown outside their business and then would gather the materials from local businesses and paint the poles white, add a gold ball on top, then hang old glory. They never let the sun set on the flags and were there taking them down any time it would start to rain. A local welder attending the church named Jimmy Williams, donated his time to fabricate the holders, then welded them on each pole throughout downtown Bristow and a few onto 4th following Route 66.
At that time, Oklahoma Governer Frank Keating sent the Scroggs Family a Governors Commendation for their dedication to patriotism and serving our local communities. As Johnathan Scroggs followed in his fathers footsteps He also received Commendations from two other Oklahoma Governers for his non profit organization, The Oklahoma Youth Ranch as well as one directed towards Johnathan personally.
Pastor Chuck also helped bring the community together working with the ministerial alliance and bringing Gospel sings to the amphitheater in the city park, as well as helped start the fireworks show back up in the park that was no longer happening when they arrived to town. He is currently Pastoring the Central Christian Church in Liberal, Kansas and has been there many years but still has a love for our wonderful town and all of its people. The church service will begin at 10:45 a.m. this Sunday and they would love to have everyone come show some love to this Patriot Pastor who has shown so much love to this precious community.
