The community of Bristow took a direct hit from Mother Nature in the early hours of the morning, Sunday, when a storm rolled through that downed power lines, uprooted trees, and split some in half. According to weather reports, winds ranging from 60 to 100 miles an hours hit most of the central state leaving destruction and thousands without power. As of Tuesday morning, over 135,000 in the Tulsa Metro area were still without power. Hundreds in Bristow are in the same situation, with electric companies working around the clock to get the power restored. Over 2,000 workers from across the U.S. have come in to help this task be completed.
Following the Father's Day storms, gasoline is hard to find. Due to the stations having no power, alot, along with other businesses, have been forced to close down and stations that didn't loose power are running out of gas to to long customer lines, some people waiting over 30 minutes to fill up. The next few days are going to be really important. Everyone needs to be patient, kind and courteous. It's going to be hot, people are going to be out of everything and they're going to be mad, so niceness goes a long way in these circumastaces.
The City of Bristow is working dilegently to get the trees and limbs cleaned up around the town, so be patient. They have started on the west side of town, working north and south. A couple of sites been set up, by the city, to take your tree debris. The large site is near the golf course club house and is fully marked to help you find it and another is the high school bonfire site.
