Day of Caring is back in full force this year. The event will take place on Friday, Sept. 16.
Day of Caring is the day to give your time and energy to those who need it most and there is a lot of need out there. Its a day to encourage everyone to do a kind deed for someone, so organizations and volunteers come together and give back to the community. The volunteers are here to help in any way they can, even if its just a smile to brighten someone's day.
Sharon VanOrsdol, director of the Day of Caring, said this year the Bristow High School Leadership Class will be helping with projects at the Bristow Social Services and the historical society, located at the depot. Community Bank will be giving out delicious cookies as they do each year and SpiritBank employees will be volunteering their services. The Bristow Fire Department will be checking smoke detectors. Anyone can volunteer for a few minutes or the whole day.
Take a few minutes to help someone who may need it. Mow your elderly neightbors yard, help them clean their flower beds or paint that fence in the front yard. No matter what it is, just showing someone that you care will brighten both theirs and your day. Give it a try.
