Who can forget the years of the Polar Express? The community, beautifully draped in festive lighting, came alive with the Christmas season. Businesses filled their windows and walkways with colorful lights, lavishly decorated Christmas trees, and the holiday artwork of schoolchildren. Locals walked about town with a newly awakened joy, excited to greet and welcome visitors and new patrons. People gathered jocosely around the fire pits and community Christmas tree in in the Plaza while carolers sang. Many visitors from out-ofstate complimented the community on its festive, friendly atmosphere, expressing their commitment to returning each year. Unfortunately, the Polar Express left, absconding with much of the community’s festive attitude.
The Bristow Garden Club and Bristow News want to help reignite some of our festive spirit. As Thanksgiving and Christmas rapidly approach, local businesses and households begin to prepare for the holidays. Although one might see the occasional window dressings of a turkey or Santa whilst walking about town, the Bristow Garden Club and Bristow News encourages all businesses and homes to pull out their Christmas decorations, reindeer, Santas, and lights to decorate their homes, businesses, and lawns.
In anticipation for the most joyous time of year, may we all find the Christmas spirit and our kindness, innocence and fascination with all things bright and beautiful, compassion, generosity, and joy. May we deck our homes and businesses with colorful, aromatic wreaths, garlands, and trees adorned with past memories and future hopes. May we string lights, reflective of the kindness within us all. May we assemble nativities and holiday scenes in our storefronts and lawns as we reminisce and rekindle memories of hopeful events and lifetimes of shared family holiday gatherings. May we dedicate ourselves to community, family, and those less fortunate as we build a mirthful atmosphere for all to enjoy simply by freely giving and allowing others to share our Christmas spirit.
Please join the Bristow Garden Club and Bristow News in welcoming back the Christmas spirit of the community by decorating your homes, lawns, and businesses throughout the month of November.
