On Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, Valentines Day, a Stroud, resident was shot and killed by his 15 year old son. The shooting occured south of Stroud near Highway 99 and East900Road. According to the Lincoln county sheriff, the 15 year old son allegedly called 911 around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday saying he had shot his dad. According to the sheriff they had gotten into an argument and the son allegedly stated that his dad had a knife. He stated his dad had him cornered and he had to shoot him. The teen boy had fired two shots, killing his father.
The dad was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The teen boy was taken to the sheriff's office for questioning. The sheriff stated that the teen was not under arrest at that time, he was only being detained for now. The father's girlfriend also lives at the home, but was running an errand at the time of the incident. The Lincoln County Sheriff added that they had not been called to this home before. He also stating it was too early to know whether the teen would be facing any charges.
The OSBI has taken over the investigation.
