Depew breaks ground for their upcoming Dollar General Store. This location will be one of the Dollar General Fresh locations. This means it will stock fresh foods such as fruits and vegetables as well as their normal food products. The new Dollar General will be located on the north side of Highway 66 just west of Depew's PDQ convenience store. Weather permitting, their projected opening date will be May 1, 2023. Withallthemoisture the area has gotten this last week, it would make sense that getting the ground to pass the soil compaction test has been the construction company's biggest concern, up to this point, with the projected opening date. The Depew residents are also keeping a close eye on an opening date. Depew residents, myself included, believe this will be a great asset to Depew, as residents presently have to travel to Stroud or Bristow, and with fuel prices seeming to increase again, that's a distance some can't easily afford to travel more often than once a week, or even once a month for others. People in and around Depew seem quite happy to know there will also be a few more jobs available to the locals. This could turn out to be a great sign for the future of Depew and could inspire more businesses to look at Depew as a future home.
