The Bristow City Council met in chambers Monday evening for its regular meeting. After approving minutes from the last meeting and approval of the consent agenda on various claims the board heard a presentation from Kris Wyatt on the dog park, including rules set forth for the park. Moving on the board received an update on the Bristow City Swimming pool, which is still in the planning.
The board moved on to discussion on adopting a resolution abating property located at 1907 S. Hickory for trees, trash, debris and grass along with dilapidated buildings.
The council then discussed possible action to close Main Street on December 1, 2022 from 12th Street to 4th Street from 4 – 9:30 p.m. for the Christmas parade and shopping on Main Street, while also discussing the closure of West 7th Street from Main to Elm for the Christmas Tree lighting and Bristow Bucks.
Several agenda items related to the Jones Memorial Airport. A resolution was discussed for approval to direct the mayor to send a formal request to all tenants of hangars for tail numbers and giving 30 days to provide a valid and registered tail number for all airworthy planes and authorizing the mayor to send formal letters advising all tenants without lease of the intent to enter into lease agreements and requesting that all non-aviation and non aviation support equipment , vehicles, furniture and fixtures be removed from the airport property. Consideration and possible approval of a contract for airport management services for a six month period was also discussed by the council.
In the October 3 meeting, Brian Peter was sworn in for council member for Ward 4 to fill the unexpired term of Jeff Willeford.
Moving on to the municipal side of the meeting the board approved the minutes of Oct. 3 meeting and approved several claims and discussed possible approval of a first amendment to contract for collection and disposal of trash for the City of Bristow.
Following the municipal authority, the board moved on to the hospital authority side of the meeting. Again discussion of approval of payments to various contracts for the renovation of the current medical center were considered.
