On Thursday, Jan. 25, a plaque dedication and reception was held for long time Bristow resident, Letha Caudle. Caudle graduated Bristow High School and went on to attend Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, where she received a BS in social studies education and a MA in history. She taught social studies at Bristow Public Schools for 32 years and also taught eighth grade American history courses. She retired from Bristow Public Schools. Because of Caudle's extensive knowledge of the history of Bristow and the service she has given to the community, the city decided it would honor Caudle. Presented with a plaque that read “In appreciation of Letha Caudle. May her dedication and passion forever inspire us to safeguard Bristow's history, insuring that the stories of our past continue to shape and guide our future.” Dedicated by the City of Bristow, January 2024. The plaque was placed at the St. George Church at the corner of Seventh and Elm.
After the plaque dedication a reception was held in the city council chambers. Those attending were Senator Todd Gollihare, Representative Kyle Hilbert, Mayor Kris Wyatt, Fire Chief Charles Conkling, Police Chief Kendra Raney, Vicki Groom, Joanne Denney, Debbie Corwin, John Tidwell, Jeryn Fletcher, Jill Stewart, Tina Fortney, Ashley Hinshaw, Hailey Howard, Janet Hamel, Dena Hinshaw, Sabrina Mounce, Abbey Natschke, Tonya Davidson, Althea Chasteen and the one and only Letha Caudle.
