Every other Friday night, local car enthusiasts meet in the parking lot between Tractor Supply and the old Mazzio’s to visit, share their passions, and show off their vehicles. Their most recent meeting occurred last Friday, July 30th, with about 40 people in attendance. They named their meeting events “Bristow Nights.”
Chris Miles set up “Bristow Nights” with his cousin after realizing how many old cars reside within the Bristow area. They began by setting up a Facebook page, “Bristow Nights”, to introduce their idea, to build interest in meeting locally on a regular basis, and to plan and coordinate meetings. “Bristow Nights” offers a time to hang out and socialize for gearheads, anyone interested in the automotive industry, adults, children, families, and anyone who simply wants to have some fun and visit in a safe atmosphere. Chris stated, “There are no rules or requirements regarding vehicles and no fees. We’re just out here to have some fun and hang out, sharing time together. We have several families who participate: fathers and sons, brothers, spouses, and entire families.” He also indicated that people from all over the state attend.
Owner of “The Roadrunner” and participant Cory Gentry shared why he enjoys “Bristow Nights”, stating “It’s fun getting to meet everybody and show off a little bit. You get to show everybody your hard work. I’m so grateful to Chris for putting it together.” Since “The Roadrunner” garners much interest from attendees at every meet, Cory gets to share and show off often.
Parked in rows, cars of all makes and models sit with hoods ajar while owners share stories and visit. Chris’ aspirations for the group continue to evolve with each event. Ultimately, he hopes that “Bristow Nights” grows into a consistent event for the community to enjoy, share passions, and meet new neighbors and which results in an annual or biannual car show, bringing business and interest to the community.
Meetings occur every two weeks on Friday evenings. During the summer, they meet around 7:00 p.m. Their next meeting will be on Friday, August 13th. For more information, follow their Facebook page, “Bristow Nights,” contact Chris by phone at 918-381-9530, or email him at cmiles9530@gmail.com
