World premier musical coming to the Freeland Center

The Bristow Community will soon get the opportunity to experience a world premier musical titled, “Kannon Gets The Wiggles”. This is an all new musical about family, friendship and inclusion. The musical is based on the real life story of Andee and Kannon Cooper. This story is for all ages and is full of superheroes and evil villains, timeless truths of inclusion and togetherness, laughter, heartfelt moments and one super kid.

A healthy kid, Kannon began having seizures at the age of four. He was diagnosed as having Lennox-Gastaut syndrome which is a rare form of epilepsy which begins in early childhood. As Kannon began to find his new place in this world, Andee wrote a childrens book about inclusion and epilepsy to bring awareness to Kannon and all the other children whose stories deserve to be heard. Her book is entitled “Sometimes I Get The Wiggles.” Andee has toured the country with her award winning children's book, speaking on diversity in public education and single parenting as a mom of a child with special needs.

The musical is about following Kannon on his superhero journey as he finds his place in this world and battles the evil professor lightning. Kannon begins the second grade in a new town with his mom, Andee. If changing schools wasn't bad enough, Kannon finds out he has epilepsy and must navigate the hardships of life as he grows. With the help of funny doctors, good friends, his mom by his side and Dr. Chip, he learns there is nothing he can't do and we are stronger together. He chooses to conquer life and raise the first generation of second grade seizure superheros.
